HP's setup ink cartridges are in the box. When they run out, it takes HP 936 or 936XL cartridges. The set we point people at is a compatible 936XL 4-pack — about $80 on Amazon, rated by the seller at about 7,450 pages for the set, sold with the chip fitted. HP's firmware updates can block cartridges with a non-HP chip, so turn off the printer's automatic firmware updates before fitting them. Original HP 936 cartridges always work.
